Be careful changing money in Italy as banks and some currency exchange places charge very high commission rates, especially those at the airports, 5% to 10% is the norm. This is fairly widespread in major cities in Italy so check the commission rate first. Using cash machines is not a bad option, the Italian Bank operating the machine will charge you a commission of around 1% which normally appears as a seperate charge on your bank statement. Your own bank may charge you a commission as well so you will need to check. If you wish to change cash then there are some currency exchange places across the road from Termini station, as you exit the front of Termini if you go to your left then cross the main road and you will see them under the covered walkway. They have a better rate of exchange and do not charge commission, however always check first.
